On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, Parent University held a virtual session on Digital Citizenship: Left to Their Own Devices

This session discussed how to support kids in navigating the “digital wilderness”. This session looked at some reasons behind this difficult-to-navigate journey for parents and how to support media balance and well-being. The session incorporated strategies to help extend schools’ efforts and build a culture of healthy, mindful tech use at home.

This session was led by:

• Kate Meyer, M.Ed., English and Design Thinking Teacher, Common Sense Education Ambassadors at Mount Desert Island High School
• Jonathan R. Werner, M.S.Ed., of the Maine Department of Education’s Learning Through Technology initiative.
