Why is it sometimes so challenging to connect across our differences? What can we each do to create more inclusive community? Recent research findings on identity development and unconscious bias will be presented followed by a discussion on how these factors affect building relationships with others who maybe different from us. We will share stories and resources, practice some new skills, ask candid questions, and in the process get to know each other a little better.

Peaks Islander Anne Sibley O’Brien is a children’s book writer-illustrator and diversity
educator. Her childhood in Korea kindled a lifelong fascination with the beauty and
challenge of human differences.
