Are you a parent or guardian with questions about PPS' new standards, and the learning beliefs and teaching practices that guide them?

Like many school districts around the country, Portland Public schools is adopting a proficiency or competency-based learning system. This change has created questions about the college admissions process among parents. What are colleges looking for in a potential student? How will admissions officers view the new transcripts? How can applicants strengthen their applications?

A panel of PPS staff and college admissions representatives, from colleges and universities across New England, will discuss what the district's new standards mean for students and families, and give insight into the college admissions process.
